Since Ashton is off at college, I have no one to split food with. Then I went to the real Burger King in Mattoon with Jeremy and Tony.

I always thought a “Miracle Game” would happen for Illinois Football. After all, it happens every week for some team. I must admit, there were many times over the years when I questioned my belief. But yesterday, on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, it happened. And like with most things in life...it was when I least expected it.
I went to the Illinois football game, just like we always do. I thought if nothing else we would see the jets flyover at the conclusion of the National Anthem. I had no idea how the game would go....
A sad, sad day. I went to Oakland on a beautiful fall Friday afternoon to play golf. Unfortunately, when I got there I was informed the course is going to close for good on November 1. I have played hundreds of rounds there with some of the best people I know. I’ve seen kids grow up on the course and so many teachers/coaches come and go, but not before they spent a lot of time at Norton Knolls. It changed ever so slightly over the years, had new owners, and I moved on, but it was still a great place to go back and play golf.
I made my only hole-in-one on #8. I found out Shannon was pregnant with Ashton after coming home from Norton Knolls one Sunday morning. I’ve been lucky enough to play “better” courses and have been a member of “nicer” courses, but still during this year off when I can do anything I want... I had Norton Knolls down as my #1 golf course to play. Thank you to Jim, Harold, Terry, and Ez. Thank you to Norton Knolls. It will be missed. The goal is to give four times this year, and I think we will make it. I say “we” because Shannon is now also giving blood!
Out of respect for Mr. King and as a thank you for bothering him at his house... I thought I should read one of his books. Previously the only one I had read was 11/22/63. Elevation was good. A quick interesting read.
